Zehra Senem is a DPhil student in Migration Studies. Her research seeks to understand how transnational religious organisations establish and sustain the imagination of belonging to a diaspora. In this regard, she conducts multi-sited ethnographic research exploring transnational Bosnian Muslim communities in Germany.
Before joining the DPhil in Migration Studies at the University of Oxford, she did an MA in Central and South-East European Studies at the University College London’s (UCL) School of Slavonic and East European Studies (SSEES) and a BA in Turcology and Social Anthropology at the Free University of Berlin (FU Berlin).
Her research interests include diaspora studies, transnationalism, and Muslims and Islam in Europe.
