Dark Markets
Duncan is an anthropological researcher studying opacity and market abuse in global finance. For his D.Phil. he is researching the life of one financial product across Europe, from its origination point in the east to being packaged and traded in London and sold across the continent. In doing so, he hopes to highlight the uneven social connections created by financial products and examine the extent to which opacity, broadly conceived, is critical to the functioning of a market economy. Prior to his doctoral research at Oxford, he spent time working in finance at Morgan Stanley and Merrill Lynch.
