Postdoctoral Affiliate
After completing my postgraduate studies in (Medical) Anthropology, I joined the History Faculty as a postdoctoral researcher for the Oxfordshire Health Humanities Project in March 2024 with a postdoctoral affiliation maintained with the School. Both my doctoral and current research focus on developing different approaches to outcome evaluation, especially the ways to bridge the gap between (clinically and systematically defined) efficacy and individual experiences. On a broader level, I am interested in social and historical approaches to health, medicine, and care. My areas of interest are primarily the UK and Southeast Asia (especially Myanmar/Burma), and I am exploring novel theories and approaches to look at these areas in a global context.
While my doctoral research focused on the UK context, my research network enables constant exchanges of ideas and collaboration opportunities with medical anthropologists in China, Canada, the USA, Germany, and Switzerland. Please email: yuxin.peng@anthro.ox.ac.uk for research collaboration.
