Shahnoza Nozimova is a political scientist with broad research interests in state-society relations, social reproduction, gender issues, religious landscape, and nation-building in contemporary Central Asia. She received her PhD degree in political science in 2021 from George Mason University, Fairfax, Virginia. Her current research explores discursive, legal, socio-economic, and therapeutic affordabilities and limitations at the intersection of reproduction and (im)mobility in Central Asia. Dr Nozimova received her BA from American University in Central Asia and MA from the OSCE Academy in Bishkek. She taught at American University in Central Asia and George Mason University and worked and consulted at various international organizations and research institutions. Her works have been published in edited volumes and peer-reviewed journals, such as Nationalities Papers and Central Asian Affairs.

Current research interests: the social and discursive context of reproduction, migration and (im)mobility, gender and nation-building, state and society relations in post-socialist space, religious affairs in Central Asia, historiography, decolonizing field research.
