Micol is a social demographer working at the Department of Sociology, University of Zurich (UZH). Her research sits at the intersection of migration studies and computational social science, and she specialises in applying advanced quantitative and computational methods—including network analysis, simulations, and big data—to questions about human behaviour and social structure. While her substantive focus is on international migration, her methodological interests extend more broadly to the study of social phenomena using innovative approaches and non-traditional data sources. She is particularly interested in interdisciplinary collaboration and open science initiatives, and welcomes connections with researchers across disciplines. She is currently collaborating with Dr Laura Fortunato on a project studying the emergence of parochial cooperation and in-group favouritism in children and adolescents.
