Researcher

I am a physicist turned data scientist researching long range historical trends with the use of the Seshat databank, the largest collection of historical data in the world.

My career started with a PhD in quantum physics where I designed, fabricated and measured novel types of superconducting qubits. My work allowed me to explore the fascinating experimental side of quantum physics as well as learn valuable coding and data science skills.

After my PhD I worked technology consultancy where I helped design new medical technologies and advanced sensors. During this time, I developed a passion for data science and visualisation that brought me to working on big data projects. My passion for data led me to work for the Data/Culture project first at the Alan Turing Institute and now at the University of Oxford School of Anthropology and Museum Ethnography.

My work focuses on developing new methods to analyse large historical datasets, borrowing from statistics and physics principles to create a science of history.
