Maaret is a research fellow at the School of Geography and the Environment at the University of Oxford. She holds an MA from the University of Potsdam and the Humboldt University of Berlin and a PhD from the University of Bern. Maaret is interested in people's embodied experiences related to (ill)health, environmental pollution, violence, and marginalisation, how these experiences are linked to global inequalities, and the everyday practices people use to respond to such challenges. Her current work, funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation, focuses on women's experiences with long covid, how women manage their health condition and experience support from health institutions.
At the School of Anthropology and Museum Ethnography, Maaret has been a guest lecturer in the Medical Anthropology MSc programme.
