Dr Jessica Omukuti

Jessica Omukuti is a Research Fellow on Inclusive Net Zero for the Oxford Net Zero Initiative and is based at the Institute of Science Innovation and Technology (InSIS). Her research critically examines whether and how the net zero concept enables greater equity and justice in climate action by state and non-state actors in emerging economies and developing countries.

Prior to joining the University of Oxford, she was a Research Associate at the University of York, working on climate financing of climate change adaptation in developing countries. She has also previously worked at the Green Climate Fund which is an international climate finance institution. She has also worked in NGOs such as Mercy Corps and CARE International in sub-Saharan Africa where she led development and resilience programs in the region.

She holds a PhD in climate justice and climate finance from the University of Reading (2020), an MSc in Climate Change and Development from the University of Sussex and a BSc in Meteorology from the University of Nairobi.
