My work inquires into state violence in urban Brazil through sustained collaboration with social movements from the favelas of Rio de Janeiro. I address how police lethality and mass incarceration target non-white, impoverished young men by critically engaging with fables of terror. I look at documents, pamphlets, banners, T-shirts, graffiti, protests and memories to excavate the law's truth-making and portray activism on the move. I also navigate the intersections of grief, politics and everyday life by co-producing death-life stories with the mothers of those killed by the police.

Beyond this, I have researched harm reduction policies for homeless people living with drug addiction in Brazil and the ageing of asylum seekers in the UK.
