Bio
Ben Epstein is a medical anthropologist who joined Oxford's School of Anthropology and Museum Ethnography in September 2023. He has held teaching posts at the University of Cambridge and University College London.
Teaching and Research Interests
Ben's teaching and research interests cover the anthropology of mental health; Japanese mental health practices; ethnography in disaster contexts; global mental health discourses; mental health policy and care in crisis; commensuration processes in psychological assessment scales and measurements; the translation of subjective experiences into data; and molecular and precision psychiatry
