Postdoctoral Affiliate

Lucy is a Postdoctoral Affiliate and former student in the Primate Models for Behavioural Evolution Lab, supervised by Prof Susana Carvalho and Prof Harvey Whitehouse. She is interested in exploring social anthropology and comparative primatology to address questions of human behavioural evolution and uniqueness. Lucy's DPhil project focused on studying the evolution of leave-taking in wild chacma baboons, across methodological and theoretical dimensions. She conducted the first thorough review of leave-taking in an evolutionary context, and applied methods from psychology, primatology, and comparative behavioural research to test leave-taking empirically for the first time in a non-human species.
