Workshop: Food Junk and Scraps

Mukbang is performative eating online. In this workshop, we will explore the mechanics of performative eating through food junk journaling (yes, that’s written right: food junk not junk food).  If you are what you eat, what would your food (and its packaging) say about you? You will cut up, rearrange, and collage packaging and in doing so, will be invited to reimagine your everyday eating. As you connect food-related scraps in a culinary collage, there will be discussion of, and reflection upon, the materiality and ecological impact of food and eating. You can bite into this challenge on your own, or with friends. Bring a pair of scissors, anything you’d like to write or decorate with, and one or two weeks worth of food packing you’d like to work with. Additional materials will be provided.
