Support for School of Anthropology and Museum Ethnography Researchers
Sources of funding information
The School circulates a weekly Bulletin by email that includes information on funding opportunities. Contact Gil Middleton if you wish to be added to the circulation list.
The Social Sciences Research Facilitators can provide expert advice on potential funding options. They also run regular briefings on aspects of research funding. Visit: http://www.socsci.ox.ac.uk/services/research-and-impact.
To discuss your research projects and potential funding options, please contact your Administrator or Gil Middleton.
Research proposal quality assurance procedures
The School has a process designed to ensure that research proposals it submits are of a consistently high standard. Early implementation of quality assurance review provides an opportunity to identify weaknesses in the case for support and to thereby improve the probability that it will receive funding approval. Quality assurance review should be initiated no fewer than 30 days prior to the deadline for submission of the final proposal to Research Services. Full procedures are available here.
Please note all research funding applications to external bodies, whether or not they involve a budget, must be seen by Research Services and Gil Middleton before submission. Applications for research leave for Tutorial Fellows are also likely to require college consent. Please check with your college senior tutor.
Application support is provided by the University’s Research Services. Its roles include:
o reviewing and authorizing research grant applications;
o accepting new awards, and sponsor liaison;
o negotiating research-related contracts;
o advising on the costing and pricing of research at Oxford;
o promoting the responsible conduct of research and compliance with regulatory and sponsor requirements.
