Thesis: Reanimating Tibet in the Museum: contentions in collections and their contemporary ‘afterlives’.

Research: My doctoral thesis will investigate the collecting practices employed during the Younghusband Expedition of Tibet (1903-04) through the survey and study of relevant collections in museums across UK. The second aspect of the research will be fostering coeval engagement(s) between the museums and the Tibetan people through a ‘Tibetan Contact Zone’ and grounding them in a transdisciplinary framework which accommodates the multiplicity of the Tibetan diasporic identities (refugee / indigenous) as well as the exceptional circumstances pertaining to Tibet.
