Thesis: Universality or Indigeneity? Indigenous Resistance to Indigenisation in Polynesian Christianity (working title)

Research: My main interests are indigenous cultural movements and the place of global religions in (post) colonial societies. My DPhil project investigates how indigenous Christians in French Polynesia shape the reality of native Christianity in relation to their perception of the history of colonialism and conversion. I am also interested in negotiation between the universality and particularity of Christianity by indigenous populations.

Research interests: Indigenous Christianity; Anthropology of Religion; Ritual performance; Decolonisation of Religion; Indigenous Cultural Movements; Colonial memory and history
