Simon is Principal Lecturer in Biological Anthropology at Oxford Brookes University. His research centers on human evolution and the co-evolutionary relationship between humans and disease, and palæoepidemeology. He is particularly interested in science education and communication, and as well as writing for the Guardian regularly appears on wide range of radio and television programmes. He is a Vice president of the Royal Anthropological Institute and Deputy-Chair of the Society for the Study of Human Biology. From January 2015 Simon will be the Chair of the Society for the Study of Human Biology.
