Russell Hill is Professor of Evolutionary Anthropology at Durham University. His main research interests are in the behavioural ecology of primates and other large mammals. He runs the Primate & Predator Project based at the Anthropology Field Station in the Soutpansberg Mountains, South Africa, and has previously managed other projects in South Africa based at De Hoop Nature Reserve and in the Kruger National Park. While his primary research interests are in predator-prey interactions with diurnal primates and their predators as his study system, his work is increasingly is examining mammalian conservation and human-wildlife conflict from an interdisciplinary perspective, drawing on the strengths of quantitative and qualitative approaches to explore opportunities for human-wildlife coexistence.
