Perceptions of responsibility for climate change prompt attention to the regeneration of life as a dynamic process entailing diverse agents; at the same time the presence of death in life complexifies categories of analysis. Through these big issues I weave a small narrative about the exposure of subsistence foods to unpredictable hazards, hinting at the insights they offer into certain Euro-American evaluations of production and creativity that make climate change so hard to act on.
