BA Post-doctoral Fellowships 2020/21 Call

Background

These British Academy awards offer opportunities for outstanding early career researchers to strengthen their experience of research and teaching in a university environment which will develop their curriculum vitae and improve their prospects of obtaining permanent lecturing posts by the end of the Fellowship. The primary emphasis is on completion of a significant piece of publishable research, which will be assisted by full membership of an academic community of established scholars working in similar fields.
There will be a three-stage application process for those wishing to apply through the School of Anthropology and Museum Ethnography at the University of Oxford.

Stage 1 - secure institutional support (see opposite)

Stage 2 - British Academy Outline Application (September – October 2020)

The funder submission deadline will be 14 October. There will be a draft application review and feedback process organised by the Social Sciences Division team in early September. Candidates who have secured departmental support to apply to the scheme will be sent details of this process, and will also be offered support from the SAME Research Support team.

Stage 3 – British Academy Full Application (January – February 2021)

Candidates who are shortlisted after the outline application stage will be notified in January 2021, and invited to submit a full application to the British Academy for a deadline which is expected to fall towards the end of February 2021. These candidates will continue to receive support from the SAME Research Support team in the preparation of their applications

Application for institutional support (July – August 2020)

To be considered for institutional support of your application please ensure that the relevant unit of the School is aware by contacting the Head of Unit via your proposed mentor, then send the following to research@anthro.ox.ac.uk by noon on Wednesday 19 August 2020.

• An outline of research (max 3 pages incl. references, 12 point, 1.5 spaced).
• A CV (max 2 pages).
• A statement of support from mentor(s). The BA require a mentor within the institution, the department requires a member of School staff to mentor each post-doc to ensure our post-docs are fully integrated in departmental life. Two mentors are acceptable.
