Why do we care so much about games?

Radio: BBC World Service Radio, The Why Factor, 02/03/2020, 23:09

Dr Martha Newson discusses her research into how intense emotions bind fans together and how these experiences can shape our sense of self and fuse our identities to our tribes – our teams – often for life. Included: winning and losing, and how sport taps into much more ancient ways of connecting to our groups and to ourselves, such as warfare or a big game hunting situation, which in our ancestral past would have had a real impact on our genes and our survival.
