Vidhya Ramalingam

Vidhya Ramalingam is Senior Research Fellow at the Institute for Public Policy Research (IPPR), Senior Fellow at the Institute for Strategic Dialogue (ISD), and co-Founder and Director of Moonshot CVE, a new social enterprise specialising in data-driven innovation in responses to extremism and community violence.

In her role at IPPR, Vidhya has led research on migration, integration and communities. She previously set up and ran a major research programme at ISD on responses to far-right extremism and terrorism across the EU, in partnership with the governments of Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, and the Netherlands. She launched The Far-Right Extremism in Europe Initiative (The FREE Initiative – to bring together over 250 policy makers, practitioners, formers and survivors responding to far-right violence across Europe, to offer peer support, share methods and amplify the voices of those on the front line.

Vidhya regularly advises governments, NGOs and international organisations on:

•        Xenophobia and intolerance
•        Racial violence
•        Far-right extremism and terrorism
•        Intervention (Disengagement and de-radicalisation)
•        Community resilience

In addition to her Research Associateship at the School of Anthropology, Vidhya is also a Fellow of the German Institute on Radicalization and Deradicalization Studies (GIRDS). She has previously worked with the Runnymede Trust, openDemocracy, the Danish Red Cross, and was a New Sector Alliance Social Enterprise Fellow.

She holds an MPhil in Migration Studies from the University of Oxford, and a BA in Anthropology and Inequality Studies from Cornell University.
