Dr Merete Demant Jakobsen

Merete Demant Jakobsen is research associate. She is a social anthropologist and has a MA in Literature. She is presently at The University of Southern Denmark, Odense, Institute of Public Health, department Health, Man and Society. Her research project: ‘Narrative implications of the patient’s first consultation with oncologist. An analysis of the relationship between information, story and healing’ is funded by Cancer. Dk,.

She did her D.Phil 1994-96 at ISCA, ‘Shamanism. Traditional and Contemporary Approaches to the Mastery of Spirits and Healing’  Berghahn (1999). The fieldwork was conducted in neo-shamanic courses in England and Denmark.

She had published books on shamanism, the experience of evil and a documentary novel on the deportation of the Danish Policemen in 1944 to concentration camps in Germany.
