Yo Nakawake

Research Affiliate

Yo Nakawake is a research affiliate at the Institute of Cognitive and Evolutionary Anthropology, University of Oxford. He obtained his PhD at the Department of Behavioural Science at Hokkaido University in Japan. For his PhD research he employed group experiments and computational modelling to examine adaptive rationality of collective decision making and cumulative cultural evolution.

Currently Yo is working on a project examining the coevolution of religion and morality. He is interested in the cultural evolution of social norms, folktales and prosocial religion and is addressing these using a combination of approaches. Specifically, Yo seeks to combine fieldwork studies, statistical analysis of cultural materials, and developmental research focusing on child-parent interaction. His current affiliation is Baby&Child Lab at Kyushu University (Long official name is: Division of Psychology, Graduate School of Human-Environment Studies, Kyushu University).
